Boxed shaped Scandinavian modern stoneware table lamp with open palm decorations glazed beautifully in shades of gray, brown, blue, green and anthracite with a slight sheen.
Manufactured in the 1950s by Løvemose Keramik on the small island of Langeland.
Stamped ‘Løvemose – Made in Denmark’ under base. Beautiful vintage condition. Løvemose Keramik was founded in 1942 by Marie Hansen (1919-2008) nicknamed Musse and her husband, the crafts potter Johannes Hansen (-2003) nicknamed Mik as in Keramik (Danish for Ceramics).
The company was situated in the town of Kædeby on the small Danish island of Langeland and was very succesful in the 1960s and 70s. At one point they had up to 15 employees, working largely with retailer Rasmus Holbech in Odense on the island of Funen. The pair sold the company in 1982 but stayed on in the house Kædebyhus, where the production had taken place.
The base is original and has not been repaired from any kind of breakage, shades are new, rewired with black cable, and now in modern E27 fitting. The photo/s shown aim to show the condition of the lamp as accurately as possible but this is not a brand new item, some minor signs of age and/or use might be seen. Possible slight variations in the colors can be shown due to lighting, the camera lens & the device the image is viewed.
